Patagonia


Patagonia is a geographic region composed of the southernmost part of South America. Patagonia is located in Argentina and Chile.
Name Patagonia comes from the word Patagon used by Magellan to describe the native people that his expedition as alleged by the giant. Patagon is now believed that the tribe Tehuelche with an average height 1.80 m (~ 5'11 ") compared to the average height Spaniards then, 1.55 m (~ 5'1").



In the eastern Andes, Patagonia is located south of the river Neuquén and Colorado, and on the west Andes, located south of 39 ° S, not including Chiloé Island. Chilean Patagonia region includes the southern Los Lagos, Aisén and Magallanes. Patagonia does not include part of Antarctica claimed by Chile and Argentina.
