Angkor Wat


Angkor Wat (Khmer: អង្គរវត្ត), is a shrine or temple is located in the city of Angkor, Cambodia, and is regarded as one of the wonders of the world. She was built by King Suryavarman II in the mid-12th century. Construction of the temple of Angkor Wat take as long as 30 years. Angkor Wat is located on the plain of Angkor temples are also full of beautiful buildings, but Angkor Wat is the most famous temples in the Angkor plain. Of King Suryavarman II ordered the construction of Angkor Wat by Hindu beliefs that put the mountain Meru as the center of the world and is home to Hindu deities, with the central tower of Angkor Wat is the tallest tower and the main tower building in the complex of Angkor Wat.
As the mythological Mount Meru, the temples of Angkor Wat and the canal is surrounded by a wall that represents the ocean and the mountains that surround the world. The main entrance to Angkor Wat and a half kilometers along the fence railing decorated with a hand grip and flanked by man-made sea called Baray. The entrance to the temple of Angkor Wat through the gate, representing jambatan rainbow that connects the natural world with the gods of nature.
Angkor Wat is in good shape compared to other temples in the Angkor plain because Angkor Wat has converted into a Buddhist temple and maintained and used continuously when Buddhism replaced Hinduism at Angkor in the 13th century. Angkor temples never colonized by Siam in 1431.
Modern name of Angkor Wat, meaning "City Temple": Angkor is an altered form of the word that comes from នគរ Nokor नगर word nagara in Sanskrit which means the capital city or state. wat is the Khmer language term for the shrine or temple. Earlier this temple was the original name of Preah Pisnulok or Vishnuloka (where the god Vishnu dwells), based on the king's posthumous name builders.
